Chicken breed
Easter Egger
Not a breed but a cross carrying the blue-egg gene, so no two look quite alike and the eggs run from sky blue to sage green, now and then cream. A sound bird for a first flock. Daughters of Easter Egger hens will not reliably lay coloured eggs.
Hatch Index lists 4 varieties of Easter Egger from 6 hatcheries, and 4 are in stock today. The cheapest sexed pullet you can order now is Easter Egger from Cackle Hatchery at $6.49. Straight run starts at $5.19.
